This report examines the effect of random errors in measured physical dimensions, on the determination of seepage from irrigation canals. Two methods of seepage measurements are discussed, namely ponding and inflow/outflow. The merits of each when used in both small and large canals are considered, and the circumstances requiring multi- determinational or continuous techniques are identified.
