Paper reviews some of the more basic concepts on beneficiary participation in development projects in agriculture, irrigation and rural development and outlines the various types of investigations and analyses that are considered necessary to assess the viability of management and suggests ways in which the results of such analyses can be used during project formulation to help ensure more efficient and effective beneficiary participation.
